Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons...and COVID!

Hello from the kitties who like to watch us when we sit outside, which is a lot! Well, Yellowstone continued to be beautiful but we couldn't quite enjoy it as much as normal because we got COVID!  HUGE thanks to Dr. Michelle McElroy who saved us again and had us on the mend in short order so we were able to still get out there and see the Grand Tetons.

Many of you might recognize the Chapel of The Transfiguration...wow what a view to have from inside your church!

And you also might recognize the antler arch from Jackson Hole! We had a great lunch at the Silver Dollar Bar and got a new snap ring pin for the tow bar pin that broke. Thank goodness it was an easy fix and we were close to a big town!

The sky was amazing on our way "home"

from Jackson Hole but it got late...

...and by the time we got there Pappy said "hey give me some dinner!" :)

The next day was one of the best ever! Despite still being a bit tired from COVID we took the advice of a ranger and skipped Jenny Lake (OK, we still went there and hiked a bit) but we kayaked in String & Leigh Lake. It was breathtaking! The water was so clear and unlike Jenny Lake we had the whole lake to ourselves and about 3 other people.
See the timbers in the water it's so clear!

Giving Dave a little encouragement to keep going!

We stopped for a snack on a little private beach (thank you Anne for my fabulous towel I take with me for all our snack times)!

The tricky part about getting to Leigh Lake is that you have to portage from String to get there...up the stairs, about 100 yards thru the trees and down the other side...but it was SO worth it!

Look at that water...it was so pristine!

Then on to Helena and the views along the way of more Yellowstone.

Outside of Helena we stayed at White Sandy Campground which is a Bureau of Land Management property, so gorgeous water views but no hook ups!   That picture below is not a sunset but a sunrise and I took it!! Pappy was throwing up (a lovely way to be woken up) but I think she was just trying to get my attention so I could see the glorious morning sky. Please ignore the bug spat in the middle of the picture!  I was still in my jammies so the picture was taken from the inside of the motorhome. :)

The next day we got to relax at another hot springs, historic Broadwater Hot Springs in Helena. It was terrific and the parking lot was big enough for Phoebe too!

It was a good thing we got to relax then because our impromptu campground that night was J&D Truck repair! The dash A/C wasn't working so we talked the guys at J&D into looking at it for us "first thing" Monday morning. Well, you all know me, if I have to be somewhere "first thing" in the morning I best park there for the night so I'm not late!😉

Then to keep things interesting we had another impromptu stop (but this was just on the way Paladin people, so just one missed stop this post!) to get a chip in the windshield repaired. Thanks to Jon Sepeshy, our awesome State Farm rep for taking terrific care of us as always and Bud at SinClair Auto in Browning MT.

Pappy says enough of the drama, take me to Glacier National Park! Thanks for reading thru this long post. I'm sure more pictures to come of God's amazing places. We are so very blessed to be on this journey!

Yellowstone & Grand Tetons National Parks, Hot Springs SD and home

We made it back to Yellowstone and Grant Village Campground. It's a bit overcast and chilly but went for a walk after dinner and were ...
